What Ladakh is to Jammu and Kashmir, Spiti is to Himachal Pradesh. A few years ago, Spiti was only an infamous twin to Ladakh, featuring similar landscapes, breathtaking monasteries, snow leopards and a constant chill in the wind. Currently, Spiti is the ultimate destination for an Indian or a foreign traveller. It attracts backpackers, trekkers, families and riders alike. Lying in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal, Spiti is a high altitude cold desert and mountain valley situated around 412 km from Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh.
