Kareri Lake is shallow water lake situated in the upper Dhauladhars at an altitude of approximately 10,000 feet above mean sea level. The trail till Kareri Lake is through a forest of Oak, Pine and Rhododendron trees and the trek is a paradise for the first time trekker. The area around the lake serves as the base camp for Minkiani and Bleni passes.

Brief Itinerary:

Departure Day: Start our Drive from Delhi to Dharamshala in a Volvo, 7 pm

Day 1: Arrival at Dharamshala. Transfers to Kareri Village. Trek to Rioti

Day 2: Trek to Kareri Lake

Day 3: Trek back to Kareri Village followed by transfers to Dharamshala bus stand

Day 4: Arrival at Delhi, 7 am or stay at Dharamshala.

Detailed Itinerary:

Departure Day: Overnight journey to Dharamshala bus stand in our Volvo.

Get on board the Kanjoos Traveller bus and pass through the states of Haryana and Punjab to enter Dharamshala in Himachal. Dinner will be en-route.

Day 1:

27 km drive from Dharamshala to Kareri village and 9 km trek from Kareri Village to Rioti.

We will move to Kareri Village in our prearranged shared cabs from Dharamshala bus stand. Breakfast at Kareri will be on arrival followed by introduction to the trek and basic precautionary measures by our trek leader.

A packed lunch will be provided to you by our team for the trek and we will cover the distance of 9 km over a period of 7 hours. A designated lunch break will be done while trekking with a constant proximity of the lush flow of the Nyund River. We will be camping at Rioti today followed by Dinner and bonfire.

Day 2:

6 km trek from Rioti to Kareri Lake

Early wake up followed by breakfast and tea. With a packed lunch, we will be starting again for the day and trek towards Kareri Lake. Our estimated arrival time at Kareri will be 2 pm. There are a lot of hill tops around to be climbed, you can chill on the banks of the lake or visit
the Shiva temple nearby. The lake in winters is mostly frozen. We would camp overnight at Kareri followed by dinner and bonfire.

Day 3:

15 km Trek (Kareri Lake – Kareri Village) and 27 km drive from Kareri village to Dharamshala

The whole trek today is downhill so it would be an easier day compared to the previous 2. Post our breakfast and morning tea, we would trek back to Kareri village followed by a group photo and goodbyes. Post Kareri, our pre arranged shared cabs will be taking us back to Dharamshala. You can choose to move to Delhi or just stay at Dharamshala and explore the town.
